Farmers Stand: What one's and what it does
Whenever you travel by car, you probably often see a stand across the road. Someone was selling something such as tomatoes, cantaloupe, or some other form of vegetable and fruit.
Those little farmer stands are very important in some communities especially rural ones. Produce must be picked while it is almost right. You then must sell it or give it away because it doesn't last much longer after that. It is for this sole reason that farmers make an effort to build a farmer stand to get rid of their fresh produce while earning income. The fruits or vegetables always taste much better here. More often than not, these fruits do not use pesticides as well as other chemicals.
How can you set up your very own farmer stand if you are growing your own crops?
The first thing you want to consider is location. Would you like to set up your stand at the local farmers market? If so you may have to pay a price to set it up there. Furthermore, if you choose to sell at the local market you'll be working with a lot of competition. Setting your stand at the end of the driveway is also a good idea. People driving by can see your stand or the sign pointing to it. In a parking space, travelers will be able to inspect your goods.
What do you want to sell? What do most people buy? A popular choice among travelers are tomatoes, melons, cantaloupe, oranges, apples and corn. There is a great probability that these choices will be given the most attention from buyers.
When do you want to run your farm stand? When would be the best day of the week to set up your farm stand? Is it in the evening or the morning? You'll probably want to do some testing here. You can simply ask competitions for tips or advise. If not, you can simply browse the net about this topic. Farm stands are located all over the world and there are actually lots of people who can share info about it.
What would be the price for your goods? Probably the best advice is to keep prices low. For example you can sell a fruit for $0.5 or a "buy one take one" for $1. Per box or carton can also be a good option depending on the produce goods that you are selling.
You can start off with a little amount of produce goods to sell and monitor how it will be selling. You will then be able to come up with a suitable list of fruits and vegetables that people would love to buy. With this, you won't have to spend much and you'll be sure to provide for your clients.
